Position Details:  Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

  • Title: SLPA (Speech-Language Pathology Assistant)
  • Location: Anoka, MN
  • Duration: 9/15/2025 - 6/05/2026
  • Onsite/Virtual: Onsite
  • Position Type: Contract
  • Working Hours: 37.5 hours weekly, from Monday to Friday
  • Student Age Group: Elementary school, float between two elementary school buildings.

Responsibilities:  Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

  • Provide direct instruction for students who qualify for speech/language services under the MN Special Education Speech Criteria.
  • Serve as a member of the educational team by consulting and collaborating with the supervising SLP, school staff, Special Education team, and other staff regarding services to students.
  • Provide direct and indirect/consultative speech/language therapy services in accordance with a student's Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
  • Adapt school and classroom environments, tools, and materials to improve student communication.
  • Meet regularly with the supervising SLP to coordinate services, maintain timely documentation of services, update student information, and design therapy materials for intervention.
  • Develop lesson plans, prepare materials, and create visuals for speech services provided to students.
  • Provide documentation of student services and progress on goals/objectives.
  • Assist with due process paperwork, which includes drafting end-of-trimester progress reports, annual IEP present levels of performance, and suggestions for skills to target in goals/objectives for review by the SLP.
  • Provide indirect services to assist with transitioning skills into the general education classroom.
  • Conduct/assist with articulation screenings, including scheduling student sessions.
  • (0.5+0.5) Float between two elementary school buildings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

  • Speech Language Pathologist Assistant license in the state of MN
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with staff, students, and parents, maintained during high-stress and crisis situations.
  • Ability to create and write correspondence and other communication materials.
  • Strong technology/computer skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work with students receiving SLP services.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff while accepting feedback from the SLP/Supervisor and maintaining good relationships.
  • Ability to travel between buildings during the duty day, as work may take place in multiple school sites.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
  • Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.
  • Must be physically present in the building/onsite.
