Overview The International School of Texas (IST) is seeking a qualified Reading Specialist to provide targeted literacy support to students across Kindergarten through High School. This position plays a key role in strengthening student reading achievement through evidence-based intervention, data-driven instruction, and collaboration with classroom teachers. Key Responsibilities * Provide individualized and small-group reading intervention for students who require additional support. * Deliver structured, multi-sensory instruction aligned with Orton-Gillingham methodologies. * Implement programs such as Take Flight or Basic Language Skills (BLS). * Conduct diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring to guide instruction and measure growth. * Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop accommodations, strategies, and resources for literacy support. * Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate updates to teachers and administrators. * Participate in school-wide literacy initiatives and professional development sessions. Qualifications * CALP or CALT certification preferred. * Training and experience in Orton-Gillingham methodology required; experience with Take Flight and BLS programs strongly preferred. * Demonstrated experience working with diverse age groups (Kindergarten–High School). * Knowledge of assessment tools and data-driven instructional planning. * Strong communication and collaboration skills. * Commitment to IST’s mission of fostering integrity, confidence, and intellect in students. Schedule and Compensation * Part-time to start, with the potential to expand to full-time based on need and performance. * Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
