As an Information Technology Specialist (ITS) I in Department of FISCal’s Project Management Office (PMO), you’ll play a key role as a project manager as well as coordinating change and release management activities for one of California’s largest and most complex financial systems. The PMO is a dynamic, customer-focused team dedicated to delivering high quality Information Technology (IT) projects that support the FISCal’s strategic mission
The ITS I is responsible for a wide range of project management tasks. Key duties include gathering and documenting requirements, supporting development and business teams, and facilitating project meetings. The role manages project risk, issues, scope, schedule, change control, decisions, execution, monitoring and close out tasks. Additional responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating meetings, providing regular status updates, and presenting progress to executive and senior leadership.
The ITS I maintains project documentation to ensure governance and clarity of project management processes. This includes developing initial documentation, keeping it up to date, and ensuring that all project artifacts reflect current standards and practices. The incumbent coordinates IT application change control activities to support deployments and ensuring adherence to best practices for facilitating all code migrations.Please note that to be list appointed for placement in the Information Technology Specialist I classification, you must take and pass the examination .

At FI$Cal, we currently offer a remote-centered position with the flexibility of telework up to three days per week. In-office attendance is mandatory on designated days and is subject to change. Our office is located at 2000 Evergreen Street, Sacramento, CA. Candidates residing outside of California are welcome to interview, but proof of California residency is required before appointment. Please note, relocation and commute expenses are the responsibility of the employee.
This position requires prolonged sitting in an office-setting environment with the use of a personal computer. Employees must demonstrate a commitment to maintain a working environment free from discrimination and sexual harassment.
