Job Description
Responsibilities: - Review engineered mechanical plans and specifications – HVAC and sheet metal
- Construct material takeoff
- Design and/or identify resources required for complete installation, retrofit and repair assignments based on expectations of the job
- Construct material takeoff for HVAC systems
- Prepare a complete mechanical bid that includes material, labor and other applicable costs
- Coordinate with purchasing to compile material costs
- Work directly with outside vendors and subcontractors to compile equipment and subcontract costs
- Mechanical estimation
- Coordinate with the team to meet bid deadlines
- Communicate the estimation data for review
- Communicate and coordinate with technicians to create proposals as necessary
- Ability to perform site surveys and equipment evaluations to create proposals for owner direct replacement, redesign and/or retrofit projects
- Ability to present the project to the customer and manage the project as appropriate
- Ability to go to job sites and evaluate work progress and needs. Especially critical for determining ability to meet deadlines and/or work demands
- Provide technical support to technicians
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience: - Minimum 3-5 years mechanical estimating or installation experience – Required
- Mechanical system knowledge should include heating, cooling, air distribution, building automation, refrigeration, and other mechanical systems – Required
- Knowledge and understanding of CAD and BIM – Required
- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) – Required
Competencies: - Excellent mathematical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Office software
- Ability to learn and navigate ERP project management system
Physical Demands: This is a mix of a sedentary role and on-site job visits. Ability to safely access job sites is necessary.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment and job sites which may include areas under construction, uneven terrain, moving equipment, etc.
