ABOUT THE Critical Care/ MICU A & B DEPARTMENT AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER:
Boston Medical Center has two medical intensive care units (MICUs). One consists of 17 beds (MICU A) and the other consists of 10 beds (MICU B). Patient populations on these units consist of the most acute medical patients including multisystem failure, renal failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome and sepsis.POSITION SUMMARY:
As a PCT in our Critical Care department, you will be a key member of the healthcare team at BMC. Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse (RN) and in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of practice, our PCTs provide direct clinical and support services. Using our patient-centered care model and uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, you will participate in the delivery of care to our patients and their families. You will also work cooperatively with all healthcare team members to provide a variety of support services to meet patient, family, and staff needs.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the Critical Care department and their families.
Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support.
Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the Critical Care dept.
Contribute to the efficient operation of the Critical Care dept, ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
A high school diploma or GED certificate
Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment)
Ability to pass clinical competency testing
Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
Basic math and computer proficiency
One of the following:
One year of previous experience as a CNA in an acute hospital setting
Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation
Completed an approved certified nursing assistant training
Completed an approved certified medical assistant training
One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only)
Fluency in another language a plus
Previous medical/surgical experience preferred

Compensation Range:
$23.19- $27.17This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
