A leading healthcare facility in Rockford, IL is seeking an experienced Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their neurosurgery team on a locum tenens basis. This is a hospital-based role with a focus on inpatient neurosurgery coverage, with some clinic duties as needed. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing neurosurgical patients and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Round on neurosurgery inpatients
Perform comprehensive assessments, progress notes, and documentation
Assist with care coordination, discharge planning, and patient follow-up
Support outpatient clinic operations as needed
Collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, residents, and hospital staff
Share census of 20–25 patients with the APP team
Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C)
Must have an active Illinois license
Neurosurgery, neurology, or critical care experience strongly preferred
BLS/ACLS certifications as required by the facility
Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
