Job Description

**Who We Are**

We are a family-owned working ranch dedicated to wildlife management and conservation for over thirty years. Our retreat facilities are open to the public, offering all-inclusive hunting services for elk, deer, antelope, and bear. We are passionate about sustainable ranching, ethical hunting, and thoughtful conservation practices.

Nestled in the stunning Sangre de Cristo Region of Northern New Mexico, our expansive 37,000-acre property (comprising 15,000 acres of private land and 22,000 acres of State Trust land) is a haven for wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

In addition to our breathtaking landscapes, we support our community through various cottage industries, including cattle ranching, hunting, forestry, lumber milling, lodge rentals, retreats, and camping.

We are a close-knit community that values remote living in harmony with nature. Our core values include Humility, Hospitality, Honesty, and Happiness. As we expand our team, we are looking for individuals who share these values and are positive, hardworking, and collaborative.

**What You'll Do as a Hunt Guide**

We are excited to invite a full-time Hunt Guide to join our community!

In this role, you will lead clients on hunts for big Western game, including elk, mule deer, and turkey, during our hunting seasons from September through January. Your expertise in hunting and harvesting will be complemented by your commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience. You will educate clients, ensuring they leave as more informed hunters, regardless of the hunt's outcome. Additionally, you will support fellow guides and assist with meal preparation and guest services. During the off-season, you will have the opportunity to apply your skills to various projects as a builder or ranch hand, depending on your interests.

As a full-time team member, you will enjoy quality year-round housing and meals during guided hunts. We encourage you to take advantage of the 37,000 acres of wilderness for your personal enjoyment, including mountain biking, hiking, and camping.

**Hunting Guide: Key Responsibilities**

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- **Hunting Guide Services:** Create memorable hunting experiences by leading adventures, providing guidance, instruction, and support to guests while prioritizing safety, ethical hunting practices, and adherence to regulations.

- **Guest Services:** Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring guests' comfort, safety, and satisfaction throughout their stay.

- **Educate and Inspire:** Use every opportunity to teach guests about hunting skills, firearm safety, tracking, navigation, wilderness survival, and conservation principles, fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

- **Hospitality Support:** Collaborate with other ranch staff, including managers, cooks, maintenance personnel, and fellow guides, to coordinate activities and ensure seamless guest experiences.

- **Additional Responsibilities - Off-Season:** During the off-season, you may take on various roles as a builder or ranch hand. Please share your skills and interests in your application so we can match you with suitable tasks.

- **Facility Construction and Maintenance:** Lead construction projects, including new builds, renovations, and repairs, ensuring they are completed on time and to quality standards.

- **Fence Construction and Maintenance:** Build, repair, and maintain fences and enclosures for livestock management and wildlife access.

- **Trail Development and Maintenance:** Develop and maintain trails for hunting, hiking, and recreational activities, ensuring they are safe and accessible.

- **Ranch Maintenance:** Assist with general ranch maintenance tasks, including repairs, landscaping, and equipment upkeep.

- **Livestock Management:** Help care for and manage livestock, ensuring their health and well-being, including medication management and vet visits.

- **Pasture and Range Management:** Monitor and manage pasture resources to optimize forage production and maintain ecosystem health.

- **Water Management:** Oversee water sources to ensure adequate supply for livestock, wildlife, and guest amenities.

**Who You Are**

You are an experienced hunt guide with ideally five or more years of experience guiding elk, mule deer, and turkey hunts. You possess extensive knowledge of Western big game and have a passion for outdoor education, ensuring each client leaves as a more informed hunter.

You are familiar with archery hunting, muzzleloaders, and modern firearms, practicing safe handling at all times. You can read and interpret safety rules and operating procedures effectively.

You are excited about the opportunity to live on the ranch and contribute positively to our community. You conduct yourself professionally with clients and fellow team members, representing our values and mission of sustainability and conservation.

You are committed to the greater good of our community, willing to assist with various tasks around the ranch as needed. You can meet the physical and environmental demands of the job, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

**Certificates, Degrees, Licenses, & Registrations**

- A valid Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment, meeting the standards of our insurance carrier.
