Job Description

The Director, Government and Industry Relations will lead efforts to integrate areas contributing to the company’s strategy for government and industry relations, including Legal, Community Affairs and Philanthropy. Responsibilities include partnering with internal (Legal and Business Unit leadership) and external stakeholders to implement government affairs strategies aligned with business objectives and regulatory priorities; monitoring and analyzing pending legislation, public policy trends, emerging issues, and regulation impacting Kemper; engaging with key legislative and regulatory stakeholders, trade associations, and industry peers for outreach and advocacy; providing counsel on government relations developments and making recommendations; coordinating political contributions and ensuring compliance with campaign finance laws; maintaining budget and spend database related to Industry and Government Affairs; and working with communications and digital teams to create and publish content for internal and external use. Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree, at least 7 years of related experience in trade association or government/industry relations, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, executive presence, advanced knowledge of legislative processes and insurance regulatory system, and ability to develop and execute innovative strategies.
