Job Description

Montefiore Medical Center is proud to announce the upcoming launch of a new acute inpatient psychiatric facility dedicated to providing high-quality, short-term psychiatric care for children and adolescents. This specialized unit will enhance access to timely, developmentally appropriate mental health services, offering a safe, structured, and compassionate environment to support patients in crisis and help stabilize their condition.

As part of our efforts to build a strong, multidisciplinary team, we are currently seeking a Clinical Manager. The Clinical Manager for the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry Unit provides strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination of clinical services to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care for children and adolescents with psychiatric needs. This role is responsible for managing and supporting clinical staff, overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance treatment outcomes and overall patient well-being

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the inpatient unit to ensure smooth functioning and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Lead, supervise, and support clinical and non-clinical staff, including social workers and creative arts therapists. 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant licensing, accreditation, and regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, state health departments).
  • Participate in leadership meetings and departmental initiatives
  • Manage unit census
  • Provide direct supervision of staff including administrative oversight, clinical supervision and performance evaluation and feedback. 
  • Oversee quality improvement activities and performance improvement initiatives
  • Oversee risk management, incident reporting, and safety protocols specific to the pediatric psychiatric setting.
  • Ability to manage complex clinical situations and provide crisis intervention.
  • Promote a therapeutic milieu that supports the emotional and developmental needs of pediatric psychiatric patients.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or related field required.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent state licensure required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate clinical experience in a mental health setting, preferably with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
